Mae Govannen Mellon, (elvish for: Greeting Friend)
Yes, you have guessed right - I am a total nerd - in love with anything Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Star Wars, Marvel and DC. I pray my husband one day is a reincarnation of the late and honorable Mr. Darcy. And throughout this blog; I am warning you ahead of time;will be many references from such books and movies taken, because they especially speak to me.
But as do nature, cooking, art and music - Anything praiseworthy, beautiful, true and noble causes my soul to soar. I love a struggle between light and darkness and the Bible is chiefest of all stories where the good guys kicked the bad guys tush's :) I heard it said that the old testament is basically a love story. Where God - the Pursuer, Lover and Warrior is the Hero. Satan is the evil adversary who is constantly trying to steal away the Hero's beloved. And who is the lovely future Bride and Beloved? US! You and me and every human who has ever walked this earth.
Have you ever looked at it in such a way? I know the whole numbers in Numbers and the countless rules and all the blood in Leviticus and the repetitiveness of Deuteronomy maybe make this harder to grasp on first sight. But if you keep remembering that this story serves always two purposes. 1. To bring Glory to God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit... and 2. to bring us back to the Father's heart. (which in turn glorifies Him...), then you will start seeing this pattern! I cannot tell you how many times I have been moved to tears in Leviticus and Numbers by the rejection God had to endure from the obstinate pigheadedness of the Israelites. And the reason it hurt so much is partly because I can see the same pattern in my life! (And that really, really hurts me... when I see that I hurt my God).
So in this, my Blog, I hope to show you God's tenderness toward us - because I believe that this knowledge will automatically cause us to want to offer Him what is in our Alabaster Box. To serve Him with all our hearts, to be excited when He sanctifies us and calls us to do certain works.
Over the years of walking with Jesus, I have been surprised again and again by His tender care and mercy, His understanding and patience towards me in my situation. How He gently led me to surrender my pain, disappointments and chains to usher in freedom, love and light into all those broken places.
Sister, and maybe even Brother - I hope that this is the God you have learned to follow - and if not - keep reading! Because this is the God I serve and love and am surrendered to, a God who knew all about me before I knew Him - yet He still loved me anyways and made a wonderful way for me to know Him.
Once again I am just so overwhelmed by His mercy and goodness towards Humanity.
And personally being interested in how my life goes. And yours and all those you love and even those we haven't laid eyes on!
Like C.S. Lewis said it so well: "I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen. Not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else."
May God's grace and Favor rest upon you today!
Beautiful jelly😊 I'm excited to go on this journey with you learning of His tenderness. Thank you for sharing this with me.
ReplyDeleteLove Alabaster Box. I am new to being a Christ follower, saved and baptized in the Holy Spirit. Jesus died on the cross, hands and feet nailed to that tree, wearing a crown of thorns. His mercy even then, beaten and betrayed never wavered from his love for us. He cried out, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do". What grace and glory that my Savior would die for me, my sins, so I can be redeemed and have ever lasting life. God made the ultimate sacrifice for us, when he sent his perfect Son, so we could be saved from Satan. I want
ReplyDeleteto be Christ like, yet I know even saved by the spilling of
his precious blood, though a sinner I live by grace.
Thank you sooo much sweet Sister! I love you lots and I am super proud of your resilience to hang unto Christ through all hardships and trials you are facing!
